Lately I've been reading things I "have to", or are "good for me", or I'm "supposed to". What a pleasure it was to devour this delightful little comic mystery. I'm a Yankee living for many years now in Atlanta (Sin City, to hear the Tennesseans in this story tell it!), and I can't help but crack up when I read an authentic South'un voice like this one. Characters with goofy, hyphenated names, sweet, "innocent" old ladies who Know All and Tell None, and of course, what small town is complete without a befuddled sheriff, distressed damsel and a quietly-closeted drag queen?"Hagatha Chrispie" would probably make her British namesake - who was a Dame in every sense of the word - blush with her quirky, forward characters, but in the oft-repeated words of the enduring Miss Marple, “[H]uman nature is much the same everywhere, and, of course, one has opportunities of observing it at closer quarters in a village.” So it is in small town TN, where everybody knows everybody and thinks they know everything, where a new glimpse of a person's profile can suddenly reveal secrets unrealized for decades.
This is a light and easy read, with a surprising amount of action for a "cozy" mystery. It is a full length novel - what a deal for the price! - but zips along, collecting characters and clues along the way. The book deals with realistic people - including a number of gay folks - who are all wholesome and respectable members of their community. There are no parts of the story which are profane, gruesome, graphically sexual, or excessively violent, so don't hesitate to recommend it to your sweet old granny!
I surely can't say I saw the end coming -- I'm already looking forward to another installment in the series.

Holly Daze Home The Truth Will Out Murder A Drag Book 1 edition by Hagatha Chrispie Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
If you like a mixture of Fannie Flagg and Janet Evanovich, then Holly Daze@Home is for you! The characters immediately come to life as soon as you "meet" them, and you are instantly drawn into the story not only about the murder but the lives of each person. Hollister Daily takes you through a fast-paced mystery, introducing you to great characters like Aunt Sister and Aunt Minnie and provides more than a chuckle here and there with quaint colloquialisms and observations that put you right beside him every step of the way. Hollister or Holly, depending on whether it is a week day or weekend, is a colorful character indeed, and after reading this, I want a sequel or better yet a series. Murder may be a drag but this book is not! An enjoyable, suspenseful and sassy quick read! I hope this author, Hagatha Chrispie, continues to publish.
I very much enjoyed this longer short story. Surprisingly fun and light for a murder/mystery I found myself smiling a lot at the dialogue between the characters. Just when I thought the story was going to end, up popped a unexpected twist. I'll be looking for the next story!
No, but a fast, light entertaining read. (What I needed at the time) You get involved with the lead characters quickly . Knowing it's a novella I hesitate here since by definition it is a "short book", but I would've liked a bit more involvement in the suspects lives. I was asking myself who is this guy when the killer was revealed. Bought the second book and looking forward to reading it.
An absolutely delightful romp through a small town with brilliant characters, more plot twists than Billy Joel driving on a country road, and fabulous backdrops! This will be a fabulous beach read!
It's a fun, entertaining read. Maybe because I'm from the south, but the characters and their manner of speaking were familiar to me. However, the book would have benefited from editing (e.g., "Holly" and "Hollie" were both given as spellings for the main character's name.) I look forward to reading the next installment. Hopefully there'll be more overt drag action!
For a few brief hours on a Sunday afternoon I was caught up in the entertaining and intriguing Holly Daze @ Home by Hagatha Crispie. From the beginning, I enjoyed the characters. They are the kind of folks with whom you'd love to hang out. Hagatha did a wonderful job with the writing as well as the storytelling I couldn't put the book down and couldn't wait to see how it ended. I would definitely recommend this book to all who love a quick, engrossing read.
I'm not a writer, so I'll review this book in the most simplest of terms. I love it, I love it, I love it. The characters are straight out of any small, nosy, Southern town, and Ms Chrispie shows an intimate knowledge of their fears, foibles, and most importantly, their dreams of happiness. This is a who-dunnit with a down-home comedic thread that is so very hard for an "outsider" to capture, and the author knocks it completely out of the park. I started the book at 100 pm, and finished it at 830 pm, and if work hadn't gotten in the way, I'da had it finished by supper. I'm sure I'll speak for countless others when I say "make this into a series, pretty please with sugar on top"?
